Muthill & Tullibardine Community Council

The Muthill and Tullibardine Community Council is here to help you.

 

It is an additional link between local people and public bodies such as Perth and Kinross Council.

 

It gives local people a voice in matters, which will affect them at a local level such as roads, housing, conservation, transport and education.

 

The Community Council aims to foster community spirit and community involvement and will support community groups and projects in any way possible.

The Community Council meets on the third Wednesday of the month, meetings are open to the public and everyone is welcome to attend.

Meetings are held in the Muthill Village Hall and two meetings per year (November & ?) are held at Tullibardine Bowling Club.

If you wish an item to be included this must be submitted in writing at least 7 days in advance of the meeting.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are community councils?

Community Councils are run by volunteers and are intended to act as a voice for their local community, by representing the views of the community to local authorities and other public bodies operating in their area and to act to further the interests of their community.

 

 

How are they funded?

Community Councils do not have the power to levy rates, but are able to undertake voluntary fundraising activities on their own behalf and to receive grants from local authorities as well as being eligible to apply for any Government grants which are appropriate to their activities.

 

 

What are the activities of Muthill and Tullibardine CC?

The activities of the M&TCC include

·         Raising awareness of issues which affect the local community

·         Managing the Coronation Park in Muthill on behalf of the community.

·         Liaison with the local authority

·         Campaigning for road safety and other improvements.

 

 

What is the area of the Community Council?

The Muthill & Tullibardine Community Council area comprises the electoral area of the same name. The rough extent of the area is from Bridge-end and the River Earn in the north to Muir of Orchill in the south, and from Torlum in the west to Tullibardine in the east.

Who can be on the Community Council?

Anyone who is eligible to be on the electoral register for Muthill and Tullibardine can be a member of the Community Council.

 

 

Where can I get information of Community Council activities?

Information is posted on the Community notice board outside the Village Post Office on the corner of Drummond Street and Willoughby Street.

 

 

When does the Community Council Meet?

Meetings usually take place on the Third Wednesday in each month and are held in the Muthill Village Hall. Meetings are advertised on the Community  notice board 14 days in advance.

 

 

Who can attend meetings?

All Community Council meetings are open to the public.

 

 

How can I raise an issue for discussion at a meeting?

Members of the public may raise issues for discussion at meetings, but this may not be possible on occasions where the agenda is full. The safest way to ensure your item is included on the agenda is to put it in writing to the secretary at least 7 days prior to the meeting.

 

  

Are there any rules governing the Community Council?

The Community Council has its own constitution, which is derived from guidelines set out by Perth & Kinross Council.

 

 

How can I become involved?

Community Councillors are volunteers who have a limited amount of free time and skills. The success of many projects depends on additional help from local people who are willing to provide special skills or time. The more local people who become involved in various projects, the more the local community will benefit.
